Here we are, 6 months into 2020.
I saw something on social media this week that said, “physically I’m in July and emotionally I’m still processing February.” I can relate to that and maybe you can too.
With all that has happened so far this year and the fact that we are still in uncertain times, this weekend I’m choosing to take some time to reflect and set some intentions for how I want to live and show up for the remainder of 2020.
I do not have control of external circumstances and I can control my habits, my routines, my attitude, my mindset, my words, and my actions. As we pause this weekend for some rest and relaxation, I am also going to pause and gain some insight and clarity.
Here are some questions you may want to ask yourself:
- What’s working in my life?
- What’s not working in my life?
- How do I want to feel?
- What habit if I was doing it consistently would allow me to live as a better version of myself?
- Is there an area that I want to grow in or learn about right now?
Today I want to share with you my favorites from June. I chose to skip writing this the beginning of June because it didn’t feel appropriate with what was happening here in Minneapolis and around the country. I chose to pause.
Here is what I have been into lately…
I’ve Been Reading…
I’ve been reading a lot! I have a passion for reading and am choosing to carve out the time to read more. Here are four books I’ve read lately that I would recommend adding to your summer reading list.
Untamed by Glennon Doyle. This was the first time I have read a book by Glennon Doyle and WOW!!! It was fantastic and at the same time might be triggering for some. I found myself saying YES out loud more than once.
The Lies That Bind by Emily Giffin. This is one of my favorite authors and I find myself not being able to put down her books. For me they are easy reads that keep me turning the pages.
Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner. Another one of my favorite authors and a book I found myself not wanting to put down. Definitely a summer read about a modern-day influencer.
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. When I posted this book on my social media stories so many people responded about how good it was and they were correct! This book is a little bit deeper than the others and I thought it was one of the best fiction books I’ve read lately.
I’ve Been Eating…
I’ve been eating the same things over and over. I have been making this Thai Peanut Quinoa Salad at least once a week. Trust me when I say you need to make this salad! I add chicken for protein and I probably could eat it daily!!!
I’ve Been Drinking…
Mocktails every afternoon. I’ve shared before that I am a fan of Spindrift sparkling water, grapefruit is my favorite. So every afternoon I’ve been making this drink:
1 can grapefruit Spindrift sparkling water
1 TBSP lime juice
2 TBSP Eniva Resvante
It’s refreshing and delicious without sugar, empty calories, and alcohol.
I’ve Been Listening
I’ve been listening to books and podcasts while I walk. I have a goal of walking 500 miles this summer so I have some time to also consume great content. If you aren’t already listening to The Transformation Show then I would encourage you to start there. You can find us wherever you like to listen to podcasts.
I have been listening to Trent Shelton’s Straight Up podcast and Brene Brown’s Unlocking Us. I have also been listening to Me and White Supremacy on Audible.
I’ve Been Wearing…
I always wear SPF to protect my skin. As I get older I’m more conscious of putting SPF on before spending time outside, especially on my face! Before I head out for my morning walk I apply Beautycounter’s Countersun Daily Sheer Defense for Face.
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer is the other SPF I use on my face. This is one of the first products I started using from Beautycounter. It’s AMAZING!!! It gives you SPF protection and just a little bit of coverage. Great for someone like me who doesn’t wear a ton of make-up.
Gilmore Girls. I know I am late to the party here. This is just a feel-good show that I am enjoying. I also watched part of Sweet Magnolias on Netflix when my Mom was here and I can’t wait for her to come back so we can finish it.
Two things that Justin and I have watched together recently is The Last Dance on ESPN which is the story of Micheal Jordan and the Chicago Bulls and Garth Brooks special on Netflix. If you didn’t know I was the BIGGEST Micheal Jordan fan growing up so The Last Dance was special to watch.
As I wrap up I want to remind you that we are doing a Summer Challenge/Series in our FREE Transformation Life Facebook group. You can CLICK HERE to join. We have some great stuff planned for July!
Wishing you a wonderful holiday weekend!!!
