It’s August and a beautiful sunny day so far here in Minnesota. Badger I went out for a 4 mile walk this morning and it was gorgeous!!!
Here is what I have been into lately during the month of July…
I’ve Been Reading
I’ve been reading like crazy! I have always loved to read so I am making more time for it especially on the weekends. I have also been using the Goodreads app to track my books and I really like it.
Below are a couple of books that I read or listened to this month.
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. I really enjoy this book and it’s a favorite of a lot of people. Definitely one to put on your list.
It Takes What It Takes by Trevor Moawad. I listened to this book on Audible and enjoyed all of the sports stories. Trevor’s take on mindset and neutral thinking is really good. Basically we all need to stop saying negative things and our life will improve.:-) He also talks about a 30 day experiment that he did and his experience is fascinating.
The Power of Decision by Raymond Charles Barker. This book is a MUST READ. This is the second time I have read this book and I will read it at least once a year. When I read it this time it was even more impactful than the first time.
Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment by Amir Levine, Rachel S.F. Heller. I am fascinated by human psychology. I also love to learn about trauma and attachment. This sounds like maybe I need to get a life.:-) In all seriousness, I want to learn and understand about what makes us do things and why we may be triggered by certain things/people. This book brought to light a lot of things I experienced in my 20s and why I experienced them. I don’t know that my 25 year old self would have been open to and appreciated this book though. I am a firm believer that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
I’ve Been Eating
I’ve been enjoying some new recipes that I have tried. So that I don’t get bored with cooking, I aim to try 1 new recipe per week.
I’ve Been Drinking
I’ve been drinking kombucha mixed with Spindrift sparkling water…YUM! If you have not tried this, add kombucha and sparkling water to your grocery list and give it a try.
A couple of my favorite combos are GT’s watermelon kombucha w/lime sparkling water and GT’s mango kombucha w/pineapple sparkling water.
I’ve Been Listening
I’ve been listening to Brene Brown’s podcast Unlocking Us. Her two episodes with Harient Lerner on apologizing were absolutely mind-blowing and I need to go listen to them again because this is something that I struggle with. Everyone will have multiple take away from these episodes.
This month we have had a couple of bonus episodes of The Transformation Show and the one with our coach Michelle on Mindset & Money Consciousness which was AWESOME!!!
I’ve also been listening to music with a powerful message. Two songs I am loving lately by Rob Riccardo are Right on Time and When Will I Learn. Do yourself a favor and go listen to them. They have been on repeat for me lately.
I’ve Been Challenging
I’ve been challenging myself to walk more and improve my push-ups. I set a goal at the beginning of June to walk 500 miles this summer. Walking in nature is one of the things that brings me great joy and I love listening to books and podcasts while I walk.
So far this summer I have walked 338.43 miles so I have 161.57 to go for August. That means I need to do 5.22 miles per day to hit my goal. It pushes me a bit but not too much from what I can easily do.
For August I am up to 5 push-ups after every time I go to the bathroom…which is a lot when you drink a gallon of water a day! Since April I have added 1 push-up each month and I am slowly getting better at them. I have to admit I wasn’t as consistent in July with this and I have recommitted.
If you have lost consistency with any habit, remind yourself that you can recommit at any time.
I love creating challenges with myself to help me do the things I want to do consistently. If you want to create a habit or be more consistent with something, create a challenge for yourself and track it.
I’ve Been Wearing
My cozy comfy robe. I’m not sure why I waited 38 years to get myself a cozy comfy robe to wear after I get out of the shower and while I am getting ready??? What matters though is that I love my organic waffle robe from Coyuchi! Click here to see the one I got. I snagged it during their Memorial Day sale.
May your August be filled with creating joy-filled moments and blessings that give you the opportunity to grow.
