I started making this chocolate peppermint protein shake in the winter of 2017. Our house was on the market at the time and my stress levels were high. I would wake up each morning with what I refer to as a nervous tummy. I knew I needed to eat breakfast and I just didn’t feel like it. It also tasted great and the peppermint would calm my stomach.
Did you know Peppermint essential oil helps to support and calm your digestive system? If you are using essential oil in this recipe be sure to make sure it is safe to ingest because not all oils are high quality and can be taken internally.
The combination of chocolate and peppermint is also fitting in the winter and around the holidays. I like to mix up my protein shake combination every so often so I don’t get bored or burned out on any given one.
During the holidays and/or other busy seasons in your life, having a protein shake for breakfast is a great way to get in a lot of nutrients without taking a lot of time and effort.
I also find that a shake is much easier for people to digest in the morning, especially when they are under a lot of stress and/or are dealing with compromised digestion.

¾-1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond or coconut milk
½ frozen banana
1 TBSP cacao powder
1 drop Peppermint essential oil or ¼ tsp. Peppermint extract
3-5 scoops Eniva Whey Protein
Optional: Handful of spinach or kale
Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth & ENJOY!
