4 Body Transformation Lessons I’ve Learned In My 40’s – Part 1
A few weeks ago, I turned 47.
Naturally, there’s some reflection that comes with that…
I was talking to my buddy yesterday, my longest friendship, and we were saying how amazing it is when you can say you’ve been friends with someone for over 20 years. I look forward to reminiscing when that number is 50.
But, I digress…
I wanted to share something profound with you, at least it’s been for me, in celebration of my birthday. But, I certainly wasn’t going to try to come up with 47 lessons. I just don’t have the time today, and you probably don’t want to read a 47-point bullet list, right.
So, I thoughts I’d share just 4. They’re actually part of a 4-step body transformation process that Janell and I came up with a few years ago. Although, you can apply them to any type of transformation.
1: Hating Your Body won’t lead to Body Transformation
This might actually seem backward at first. You might be thinking, “I don’t like my body, that’s what’s motivating me to change – workout, diet, etc.
But, here’s the reality – you’ll never actually become a person who CONSISTENTLY works out, eats healthy, and takes care of your body…
…because you don’t care for things you hate.
Beating yourself up in the gym, depriving yourself of your favorite foods, and jumping on the latest weight loss fad is NOT taking care of yourself, your body. It’s punishing it. And, you.
The energy behind that is awful.
If you’re familiar with 2 States of Being, you know that when you’re in a suffering/primal state, you actually trigger the sympathetic nervous system and when that’s switched on you, physiologically, can’t create lasting body transformations. If the 2 states of being are new to you, listen to this episode of the Transformation Podcast here, to learn more!
You’ll never find lasting motivation trying to hate your body into shape. And, physiologically, you’re going to create a lot of negative side effects – messed-up hormones, lowered metabolism, gut health issues, and more.
By the way, as I said earlier, this principle/step applies to anything:
- You Can’t Transform a Business You Hate
- You Can’t Transform a Relationship You Hate
- You Can’t Transform a Bank Account You Hate
- You Can’t Transform a _________ You Hate
The only way to create lasting transformation is to start from a place of love. Love the body you have. Be grateful for what it does for you now. And, from that position, make changes. BE the person who has a healthy and fit body they love.

Tomorrow I’ll share body transformation lessons 2 & 3, today I’ll leave you with a question:
Do you know why 95% of people fail their own Body Transformation?
