3 to BE
When I have the _______.
Then I’ll do _______.
And, I’ll be _______.
Does this formula look at all familiar to you?
It’s the formula that 95% of people live their lives by.
I know I certainly have.
Let me fill in the blanks for you.
When I have the TIME, then I’ll WORKOUT, and I’ll be HEALTHIER.
Now, nobody actually talks like this.
Instead, it looks more like:
When my kids are off to college and I have more time then I’ll join a gym and start taking better care of myself… And the BE is something like skinnier, healthier, more fit, etc.
Ironically, when the kids do go off to college I often hear:
When my kids are out of college and I have that money again I’ll join [rejoin] the gym and get back to my workouts [BE someone who works out, BE in shape].
Of course, by then there’s a wedding to pay for, elderly parents to care for, or any number of other reasons the person doesn’t HAVE something in order to DO the thing that’s required to BE the way they say they want to be.
The problem is HAVE – DO – BE is a backward model.
Another way this works is…
If I HAVE better results I’d DO my workouts and BE more committed.
